News in and around Rippey:
Bye Bye Blues will meet for a potluck meal Thursday, Nov. 10, at noon at the home of Doris Brown. This will be the final gathering for the group until spring.
Rest in peace: Members of the Rippey High School class of 1957 were notified of the death of their classmate James Paul Chase of Sunnyvale, CA, on Sept. 13, 2016. Paul was the son of Dr Walter and Pearl Chase who started his Rippey practice in July of 1933 and closed in July of 1966 to become director of student health at the University of Northern Iowa. Pearl died in 1986 and Walter in 2001. Their daughter Delores Ramirez died in 2013. Son David lives in Atlantic.
Dale and Nancy Hanaman traveled to Nashville, TN, to visits family and friends and for Nancy to attend a workshop for the United Methodist Commission on the Status of Women. Commission members attended from all parts of the country. While in Nashville, they also enjoyed visiting with a longtime friend from their Wisconsin days, Lloyd Lewis and Nancy’s cousin, Ken Klocksiem and family.
Jean Borgeson was a guest of Phil and Toni Roberts at the Bouton breakfast on Saturday morning. Myron and Maralynn Rinker joined the group and all wished Jean a happy birthday, which was Sunday, Nov. 6. There were several Woodward people there, including Jean’s cousin Bill Siglin, and it was fun visiting with the older folks who enjoyed sharing memories of our parents.
Robert Borgeson and Mel Searce treated Jean to supper in Jefferson on Sunday evening. The rest of the family was in and out at various times during the week and the Arizona family Skyped a birthday greeting. The many greetings from family and friends were appreciated.
